Happy new year everyone, I hope you're having a fantastic start to 2020! I'm super excited to see how this year rolls out, it's going to be quite the lively year for me - both personally and YouTube wise! So, stay tuned for future updates!
With that, we're having just a small one for today, considering it's 2020, and this is my first video of the year, I figured we could boot back up with a decent news tidbit that happened just last month!
On the 19th of December; just before Christmas, BioWare posted a short video on their social media platforms that teased a familiar particularly-good-looking individual that has seemingly received a Frostbite glow-up.
The clip followed many beloved BioWare characters with the caption: "Who do you want to meet under the mistletoe?" Completely harmless right, nothing to see here... Well, that's what I thought until I took a second, third and tenth look at Dorian Pavus, and we can see he is definitely sporting a new look in this video!
Before we uncover this - Dorian is a character that is practically confirmed to make somewhat of a dramatic appearance in Dragon Age 4. He's already heading back home to Tevinter to fill the shoes of his father in the Magisterium, since his dad suddenly met an ominous demise.
Add on the fact that Dorian is currently heavily involved with the ongoing comic book narratives, and there's no doubt whatsoever that we'll be witnessing our fabulous mage once more in the next game.
And given this recent tease, it seems like we have our first look at what Dorian may look like in Dragon Age 4. So without further ado, let's uncover this new aesthetic!
1) The Outfit
The festive-snowy robes can be overlooked for the seasonal aesthetic and message of the video, not to mention this outfit is the same as Dorian's previous robes in Inquisition. It just has a different, more refined texture. So with that, there's nothing new with his attire.
2) HD Glow Up
Is it just me, or does Dorian look way more detailed in quality? The faded eyebrows, his skin textures, even Dorian's moustache has been given a HD glow up. This graphical bump up is indicative for the future of both Dragon Age and the Frostbite Engine.
3) Sideburns?
You heard me! Sideburns! What a bold look even for Dorian! It seems that Tevinter has a rather distinguished fashion sense, and Dorian has taking a liking to it. Ironically, the sideburns are the biggest indicator that this is a new model for Dorian.
When compared to his original look, the lack of sideburns prove that this is the new aesthetic for our dashing chap.
Collating each of these significant changes, and the differences from Dorian's original look are quite jarring and certainly noticeable.
So, I guess the final question is, does this new look refer to Dorian in Dragon Age 4? Well, compared to last time when we got an ominous look at Solas's new model on a TV screen within BioWare HQ, this time around Dorian's new look comes straight from the horses mouth.
This is a new model for Dorian, whether it's been used as promotional material for that Christmas clip, or if it alludes to a new look for Dorian in the future of the Dragon Age games.
Like everything else, we're going to have to wait and find out when we get more teases from BioWare preparing the way for Dragon Age 4.
